STRONG. KIND. GRATEFUL.
our story

Lexi Monzeglio
We always start these things with a career background, which is so weird because we most certainly are not defined by what we do to make money in this world.

So I'll start with the things I love most in life in no particular order. Food. My dogs. Yoga. My best friend and life partner (that's you Lourens). Rock climbing. Sunshine. Looking at mountains. Food (again). Helping people. Croissants. Cooking for people. Achieving hard things. Climbing mountains. Painting. Winning. Watermelon. Lindt Sea Salt Chocolate (this one should actually be first if we being honest here).
& Lourens (just Lourens)
Aspiring Viking above all else.

If I had to choose one thing to do every day for the rest of my life it would definitely be jumping on rocks and climbing things. Movement really just makes me damn happy.

Lexi Monzeglio's Story
On a more serious note, I feel like there is always more worth in your story and yourself than we ever give ourselves credit for. I've struggled with imposter syndrome, mental health issues, feeling inadequate and unworthy my whole life. Working through meditation, the practice of yoga and mindfulness, opening my heart and mind to new ways of thinking saved (and continues to save) my life. Through Under The Bougainvillea I hope I can share parts of my journey that help you cultivate purpose, drive and love in YOUR heart and life.

My working background is pretty all over the place. I studied graphic design and suffered in the advertising industry for years before following my passion for food. I am the creator and chef of Lexi's Healthy Eatery - a plantbased restaurant group in South Africa with big plans to expand. I am also nurturing an old-but-new love for painting.
I hope my life is always full of gatherings around good (veggie) food, breathing in mountains of fresh air and helping people realise their true self worth along the way.

Lourens' Story
I come from a bit of a conservative background and the past few years have been revolutionary for my worldview, relationships and inner being. Breaking down walls, preconceived ideas and a negativity bias that ruled my life, (obviously) changed me. When I used to scare people off with my frowny face, I now irritate people with the level of positivity that I love to project out into the world.

My life goal is to be a modern viking (without the raiding and pillaging) - a true leader, game changer, uplifting people & communities while optimising my physical performance to the level of the ancient warriors.

My career is also a bit erratic . I started in manufacturing and ended up in tech most recently. I realised that no matter our choice of work it's very difficult for people these days to engage in a healthy, balanced and positive way. Seeing the damage that can do in my own life, I changed paths again to pursue a transformational coaching career that integrates into all my previous work experience that will, hopefully, enable people to own their power, keep healthy boundaries and reach their goals.
